Young Woman Arrested in Fatal Stabbing of Elba Estrada in Coachella
A shocking incident unfolded in Coachella on Sunday evening when 53-year-old Elba Estrada was fatally stabbed. The suspect, 22-year-old Marilyn Cardenas from San Bernardino, has been arrested in connection with the crime. The arrest was made without incident, and Cardenas is currently being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
Authorities were alerted to the assault with a deadly weapon in the 83-000 block of Avenue 48 in Coachella at approximately 5:50 p.m. Deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station quickly responded to the scene, where they discovered Estrada lying on the ground with a stab wound. Despite their efforts to administer first aid, Estrada tragically succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Cardenas attempted to flee the area, but thanks to the swift actions of the deputies, she was located and taken into custody. Sheriff’s Sgt. Deirdre Vickers confirmed that there are no outstanding suspects in the investigation at this time.
