Quezon City Police District Apologizes to Janno Gibbs’ Family Over Leaked Video

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has issued a public apology to the family of singer Janno Gibbs following the leaked video of his father, the late Ronaldo Valdez. QCPD Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan expressed his heartfelt apology to the Gibbs family and friends for the distress caused by the video’s circulation on various social media platforms.

Gibbs had previously called on the police personnel involved in the leak to issue a public apology to his family. At a press conference, Gibbs’ lawyer Lorna Kapunan held the investigating police officers and their superiors directly responsible for the leak.

In response, Maranan personally reached out to Gibbs to convey his apology to the bereaved family. As a result of the incident, five QCPD personnel have been relieved from their posts. Administrative charges, including neglect of duty, grave irregularity in the performance of duty, and grave misconduct, have been filed against them. Additionally, three police officers have been charged with neglect of duty under the doctrine of command responsibility.

Furthermore, the QCPD intends to file criminal charges against four civilians who were identified as the initial uploaders of the video on social media. The police have gathered the necessary evidence and are awaiting a formal complaint from the Gibbs family before proceeding with the criminal case.

Maranan also mentioned that they are investigating the alleged leakage of the police report related to Valdez’s death, which contained the address of the bereaved family. In December 2023, the Philippine National Police (PNP) relieved two policemen from their posts due to their alleged involvement in the video leak.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has instructed the city’s police force to thoroughly investigate the personnel responsible for the video leak and impose appropriate sanctions.

Ronaldo Valdez, a highly acclaimed TV and film actor, passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 76.
