In a tragic incident on Sunday morning, a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Branford, Connecticut, was ejected and killed in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer. The accident occurred around 7:22 a.m. on Sunday when a Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling in the wrong direction, veered into the center lane and collided with the truck.
Details of the Collision
The tractor-trailer, traveling south on I-95, was in the center lane between Exits 53 and 52 when the Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly entered the same lane, resulting in a devastating head-on collision. The impact was so severe that the Jeep driver, identified as 48-year-old Satoya Tenise Mccullers-Mays from Tucson, Arizona, was ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, the Jeep caught fire shortly after the collision.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, but sadly, Mccullers-Mays was pronounced dead at the scene by state police. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 50-year-old man from New Jersey, sustained minor injuries and was evaluated by emergency medical service personnel on-site. However, he refused further transportation to a hospital for evaluation.
